Reading between the lines

  • The SSD is not optional. It is listed as a requirement, not a recommendation. This is an Unreal Engine 5 title that streams the world as you move through it, and a mechanical drive will show up as texture pop-in and stutter rather than as a lower frame rate.
  • The GPU bar is lower than you'd expect for UE5. A GTX 1060 3 GB or RX 580 4 GB is a 2016-era mid-range card — Cold Symmetry is clearly targeting a wide install base for the minimum tier, not just current hardware.
  • 16 GB of system RAM with nothing else running. If you keep a browser and a chat client open, 32 GB is the comfortable number.
  • 70 GB is the published figure, and it moved. Earlier beta builds listed 30 GB; the full release build now asks for more than double that. Leave extra headroom on top — patches need free space to unpack, and an update can fail outright on a drive that only just fits the game.

No official recommended specs have been published, so this page does not invent a 1440p or 4K tier. Anyone quoting one is guessing. Storage requirement corrected 2026-08-07 (30 GB → 70 GB) after the studio revised the Steam listing.
