Mortal Shell II Balance Patch 1: full official changelog

Cold Symmetry's own patch notes, organized by system — Gloom economy changes, boss nerfs, and the enemies reverted to their beta values.

Updated August 24, 2026

Shortly after launch, Cold Symmetry posted an in-game welcome message announcing Balance Patch 1, describing it as "a rapid balance & crash fix patch to bring the experience more in line with the game's open beta" while a bigger content update is still in testing. This page reproduces the full patch, organized by system instead of as one long text block.

Economy

  • Shell map locations now cost Gloom — and every Glimpse already spent on one is being refunded, waiting in the Shell Keeper's alcove in Blackmarrow.
  • Gold drops from enemies were significantly increased; enemies in Mammon specifically now drop double gold.
  • Smelting a weapon at the Tarforge costs 75% less Gloom. Cold Symmetry's own reasoning: the old cost was meant to enable switching weapons without grinding NG+, but "the Gloom costs were set exorbitantly high."

Enemies reverted to their beta values

Every enemy that appeared in the open beta had its health reverted to the beta numbers — except the Caerinid (Spider) in Magdalena's area, kept at its harder post-beta health specifically because it doesn't respawn once killed.
