Resident Evil Requiem May Also Release on PS4 and Nintendo Switch 2, Insider Claims
Much like the most recent entries in the series, Resident Evil Requiem will not leave the last generation of consoles behind, nor the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
According to Capcom insider Dusk Golem on X, the ninth entry in the popular survival horror franchise, scheduled for release in early 2025, will also be coming to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo’s new console. These versions have not yet been officially announced, and it is unclear if they will launch simultaneously with the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S editions. The leaker speculates they could be different builds with their own technical adjustments.

Optimization and polish in line with Resident Evil 4 Remake
Dusk Golem also discussed the technical aspects of Resident Evil Requiem, stating that the game is being developed with a focus on optimization and polish, similar to what we saw with the Resident Evil 4 Remake. To achieve this, the team is reportedly receiving support from developers experienced with PC and previous entries in the series.
Since the game does not feature an open-world structure like Monster Hunter Wilds, the RE Engine should run more smoothly. This is significant, as recent titles using the engine, such as Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Monster Hunter Wilds, faced performance and optimization issues across platforms.

Resident Evil 0 Remake still in development
In addition to Requiem, the insider shared updates on the Resident Evil 0 Remake, another project currently in the works. Development of this remake reportedly faced restarts and team changes, much like what happened with the Resident Evil 4 Remake, so it may still be some time before it is officially revealed.
Capcom and its cross-gen strategy
Considering that Capcom views the high price of current-generation consoles as a factor impacting game sales, it would not be surprising for Resident Evil Requiem to also release on PS4. Based on impressions from Gamescom, the cross-gen approach does not seem to compromise the experience, which is good news for fans on all platforms.
