NC Expands AION 2 Developer Videos Globally Ahead of September PC Launch

NC, the publisher and developer behind the upcoming MMORPG AION 2, has transitioned its developer video updates to a global scale. Ahead of the game’s PC launch in September, the South Korean company released a new video specifically targeting international players.

The development team previously addressed audiences in Korea and Taiwan but is now expanding its communication globally. NC has pledged to release more frequent videos and updates in the lead-up to the launch.

AION 2 is the sequel to the original 2009 MMORPG. It is scheduled to release on PC via Steam and NC’s PURPLE platform this September. The game previously launched in South Korea and Taiwan in November 2025.

In the global video, Game Director Nam-Joon Kim, Head of AION 2 Global Publishing In-Sub So, and Executive Publishing Producer Merv Lee Kwai outlined the game’s direction and design goals.

Adjustments After a Difficult Regional Launch

The push for open communication follows a turbulent regional launch. When AION 2 debuted in Korea and Taiwan, it faced heavy criticism regarding its monetization model, which players felt was pay-to-win. This backlash contributed to a 15% drop in NC’s stock price on launch day, prompting a public apology and the removal of several power-boosting items from the cash shop.

Global Business Model and Future Outlook

NC has confirmed that the global version of AION 2 will be free-to-play. While full monetization details for Western markets are still being finalized, the publisher has stated that the in-game shop will focus primarily on cosmetic items.

Known for franchises like Guild Wars, Lineage, and Blade & Soul, NC is positioning AION 2 as its primary PC MMORPG for the year. The game is currently available for wishlisting on Steam.
