Bellatores Begins First Closed Beta and Embraces Classic PC MMORPG Roots

Bellatores, the new MMORPG developed by South Korean studio Nyou, officially began its first closed beta (CBT) this Wednesday (30). In a market dominated by mobile games and cross-platform experiences, this title aims to revive the classic MMORPG formula, being developed exclusively for PC since the very beginning.

The project stands out for going against current trends by prioritizing depth and fidelity to traditional MMORPG systems.

Unlike conventional MMOs, Bellatores uses a weapon mastery-based progression system, allowing players to freely shape their combat style. There are 12 weapons available, including swords, spears, and staffs, which can be swapped in real-time during battles. As each weapon is used, it unlocks unique abilities, increasing the tactical complexity of the combat system.

The game also features "Vision Skills", special techniques obtained via drops that grant mobility and strategic utility. The attribute system is designed to affect both combat and gathering and crafting activities, encouraging player versatility.

The world of Bellatores is fully seamless—with no loading screens—and inspired by 16th-century Europe. There are no traditional dungeons; instead, bosses and events appear directly in the open field, promoting a natural exploration experience. Progression is based on crafting equipment from gathered materials rather than direct monster loot.

Although this closed beta currently supports only the Korean language, over 50% of registered players are from outside Korea, demonstrating the global interest that Bellatores is generating.
