Aion 2 Major Update: UI Customization, New Currency, and Critical Class Balancing
The most recent community broadcast for the Aion 2 MMORPG took place on March 17, 2026, marking the return of So In-seop from his business travels to join producer Kim Nam-joon for an extensive update session. The presentation opened with a sincere apology for recent resource distribution errors where players received excessive rewards. The developers will compensate players by returning Kinah spent on material transformations during the recent resource rebalancing phase. This move is aimed at restoring economic equilibrium while acknowledging community frustration regarding the recent resource adjustments.
A significant portion of the stream was dedicated to dungeon balancing following the world-first completion of the Erosion Purification Station. The team admitted they miscalculated the difficulty curve, which led to a severe lack of support players in groups. To address the healer shortage the gear score requirement for the new sanctuary is being lowered from 3700 to 3500. While boss mechanics remain unchanged, this lower threshold is expected to increase the pool of available healers by 2.5 times. Furthermore, sanctuaries are returning to the four-run weekly limit with dual reward cubes after a failed experiment to reduce daily tasks was poorly received by the player base.
Character progression and customization are also seeing major changes. Erosion Bracelets are being enhanced with a 2.5 percent damage boost per item, totaling a 5 percent increase for a full set. On the technical side, NCSoft is overhauling the user interface with a new grid based system allowing players to customize their screen layout. This modular UI is coming to both PC and mobile, with future iterations promised to include window snapping. The developers are officially introducing a combat power metric that considers equipment and even wardrobe bonuses for better transparency. This system will eventually replace less accurate third-party power tracking tools with official in-game data for better reliability.
Social and combat systems are receiving deep refinements. The group finder will now include racial filters and priority listing features to speed up party formation, while equipment presets have been patched to prevent settings from resetting during combat transitions. A major balance update will separate damage coefficients between PvE and PvP to ensure every class remains viable. This adjustment targets better longevity in PvP fights and more controlled healing in mass-scale Abyss encounters. Players can look forward to an extra Stigma slot and brand new unique skills for every class starting March. On March 25, the slot count will expand from four to five, alongside a complete rework of underperforming abilities to ensure every skill has a clear tactical purpose.
To combat the growing issue of market inflation, the studio is introducing Bound Kinah, a character-specific currency earned via solo play and quests. This change is expected to lower the volume of tradable currency on the market by approximately 20 percent. Meanwhile, the inter-server Chaos Abyss content will receive fairer matchmaking and reduced penalties for defeat. Players can also expect a native damage meter to arrive later this March, along with new internal routing protocols to mitigate network lag. Finally, a wave of gifts including summoning tickets and appearance vouchers is being sent to all players, with classic fan-favorite costumes like maid outfits returning this April.
