One last haunting
The wait is over. The trailer for The Conjuring: Last Rites has officially been released, setting the stage for the final chapter in the Warrens’ terrifying saga. Starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga one last time, this fourth main installment promises to be the most personal yet.
Directed by Michael Chaves (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, The Nun II), the film is based on the chilling true story of the Smurl family, who were plagued by paranormal disturbances in 1980s Pennsylvania.
A deeper and darker goodbye
Set in 1986, the story follows the Warrens as they’ve stepped away from active investigations — until one final, terrifying case pulls them back. The trailer introduces Mia Tomlinson as an adult Judy Warren, who will play a major role in this emotional send-off.
Expect flashbacks featuring young Ed and Lorraine, played by Orion Smith and Madison Lawlor, adding emotional depth to this “reckoning” tale, as Vera Farmiga describes it.
The Conjuring Universe isn’t over yet
While Last Rites concludes the Warrens’ journey, it’s not the end of the franchise. According to New Line Cinema, this film wraps up “Phase One” of the Conjuring Universe. A Phase Two is in development, with more stories, entities, and a new series on Max in the works.
