At the recent State of Play event, Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja officially announced Nioh 3, the next entry in the dark fantasy soulslike action series set during Japan’s war-torn Sengoku period. Along with the reveal, a free time-limited demo of Nioh 3 is now available exclusively on PlayStation 5.
Nioh 3 follows a young warrior destined to become the next Shogun. While details about his motivations remain under wraps, it has been confirmed that players will be able to fight using two distinct styles: Samurai and Ninja.
The Samurai style delivers a traditional experience, akin to previous Nioh titles. It introduces new mechanics like Art Mastery, which boosts martial arts power, and Reflection, allowing players to block enemy strikes at the last second for intense, deadly face-offs.

The Ninja style focuses on fast, agile moves, including dodges and aerial attacks. Players can use techniques like Mist, which leaves a clone behind after being struck, and Evasion, enabling narrow escapes. You can switch between both styles on the fly, adapting your combat to your preferred pace or the needs of the battlefield.

Nioh 3 also expands the world with more open environments, greater exploration freedom, and signature high-stakes encounters. Players will face terrifying yokai, explore eerie villages full of brutal secrets, and endure the harshest challenges within the Crucible.
Nioh 3 is set to release in 2026.
